报告摘要/Abstract:
The Galactic center is a unique laboratory of studying a supermassive black hole and its surrounding physical environments. In this talk, I’ll talk about stellar dynamics in the vicinity of the central supermassive compact object of our galaxy and the prospects for constraining the black hole metric and for testing general relativity, along with an overview of the work awarded by the Nobel prize in Physics 2020.

报告人介绍/Bio:
Dr. Qingjuan Yu is a professor at the Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Peking University. She got her Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Princeton University in 2002. Then subsequently she worked at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of California at Santa Cruz. She joined Peking University as a professor in 2008. Her main research interests include black holes, galaxies, gravitational waves, and dynamics.
