报告摘要/Abstract
In this talk, I will discuss our recent research on Gamma-ray Bursts (GRBs) that do not conform to standard GRB classifications or progenitor models. These GRBs include a peculiar GRB originating from a magnetar giant flare, a genuinely short GRB not resulting from a compact star merger, and a genuinely long GRB from a compact binary star merger. The discovery of these novel phenomena suggests that our current understanding of GRBs is incomplete, and further investigation of these special events is necessary to fully comprehend the diverse mechanisms of GRBs.

报告人介绍/Bio:
Professor Binbin Zhang received his Ph.D. from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. After serving three Postdoctoral positions at Penn State, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalucia in Spain, he relocated to Nanjing University. Prof. Zhang's research interests are mainly centered on high-energy astrophysics and data-oriented research on Gamma-ray Bursts. Over the last decade, he has published more than 150 journal papers in astrophysical journals, including several in Nature and Science. His citations total more than 10500 with an H-index of 48.
